Loyalty QR Code Troubleshooting & Quick Fixes
QR Code Issues
QR code errors typically occur when the code isn’t printed or presented clearly. A blurry or low-contrast QR code often fails to scan. If the code is too small, damaged, or placed in poor lighting, scanners struggle to read it. Shadows, glare, or reflections can also block recognition.
Figure: Example of a QR code printed on packaging that is blurred or too small, making it difficult to scan.
Likely causes: Blurry, torn, faded, or tiny printed codes; QR placed at a steep angle or on curved surfaces; low-contrast print; old/damaged phone cameras; expired or inactive deals; or “redeem error” due to usage limits or syncing issues.
Resolution Steps:
- Inspect the QR code: Ensure you're using the latest code generated by Loyaltty. Reprint if worn out or unclear. Use high-resolution printing.
- Optimize scanning conditions: Scan in good light, avoid glare, ask customers to hold phone steady and fill the camera view with the code.
- Try another device: Older phone cameras may fail autofocus. Test with a different phone.
- Redeem & dashboard check: Ensure the Loyaltty app/browser is open and online. “Unable to redeem” may indicate deal limits reached or inactive status.
- Check connectivity: Device must have internet to validate the scan.
Self-Check Checklist:
- QR code is not damaged; printed at least 2×2 inches
- Code scans properly using your own phone
- Loyaltty app is updated and logged in
- Deal is active with valid dates & limits
Escalation:
If the QR still fails, contact support with:
- A clear photo of the printed QR
- Error message shown
- Name of the deal/campaign
In urgent cases, staff can add visits/rewards manually; support can sync counts later.
Prevention Tips:
- Laminate QR standees/posters
- Place them at eye level in good lighting
- Refresh prints regularly and test-scan weekly
